MPD Makes an Arrest in Northeast Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a shooting offense which occurred on Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male, conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS for treatment.

On Friday, November 7, 2025, at approximately 10:20 a.m., members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located the wanted suspect in the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. Pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant, 35-year-old Hakim Johnson, of District Heights, Maryland, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). Johnson was also found in possession of an illegal firearm and was additionally charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License and Felon in Possession.
